Dr. Jules Glanzer, President of Tabor College, announced today the gift of PepsiCo stock valued at $1 million. Floyd E. Bergen, a 1962 Chemistry graduate who now lives in Norman, Okla. made the Endowment Donation in Honor of Del Reimer.

“I have thought for years how to honor the man who taught me so much while at Tabor, Dr. Del Reimer. It is my privilege to endow a scholarship in his honor as my coach and mentor,” Bergen noted. “That time is now.”

Glanzer explained the details of the donation. “The gift honoring Del will establish a scholarship that will be directed toward an individual who will be an impact player for the men’s varsity basketball team.” Glanzer explained. “The value of the stock is in excess of $1 million. We will continue to hold the stock and use the dividends to fund the scholarship.”

In making the gift, Bergen noted that Reimer, who is also a Tabor alumnus, was a significant influence on his life as a young man. He was pleased to be able to honor his memory with a scholarship that will continue to bless others that come to Tabor as a student athlete.

Dr. Reimer, served as the coach for the Tabor’s men’s basketball team from 1957 until 1970 and worked at the college in various roles, including athletic director and the coach for several athletic teams. In all he provided thirty years of service to the college.

“I feel both humbled and honored by this designated gift in my honor. The years of 1957-61 our team practiced in the old gym, The Barn, and it was not even a dream that a member of this team would choose to present Tabor with this generous gift,” Reimer noted.
