War & Peace exhibit bus tour, artist presentation offered

“War & Peace” is an exhibit currently on display at the Eisenhower Museum in Abilene, Kan. It features the fiber artwork of Shin-hee Chin, Tabor College associate professor of art and graphic design. Tabor College alumni office is organizing a day trip on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012.

The outing will include chartered bus transportation, leaving from Wichita at 8:50 a.m., with additional stops in Newton and Hillsboro; will include an early lunch at the Kirby House and a tour of the exhibit with Chin providing commentary. The presentation will take place at noon at the museum.

Peggy Goertzen, director of the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies noted that the display is particularly moving. “It is magnificent. She does incredible work, balancing the tension between war and peace perspectives,” Goertzen said.

The tour is limited to 55 individuals, the bus capacity, and reservations are due by Nov. 1. Cost for the bus ride is $20, and does not include the cost of lunch or $9 museum admission.
